What is happening with Opera Wilmington and Why We Need You!

2022 Production of The Magic Flute

We are extremely proud of our July production of The Magic Flute. Our audience members and our artistic team agreed that The Magic Flute was our strongest undertaking to date – and that’s saying something! Diana Thompson-Brewer’s performance as Queen of the Night thrilled our audience with her mastery.

Lawrence Brownlee

Coming off the success of The Magic Flute and for 2022-23, we are looking at our most exciting season ever! We’re thrilled to take a giant leap forward with our an-nual Caterina Jarboro Memorial Concert. In March, we’ll present a concert by world-renowned operatic tenor Lawrence Brownlee. Bringing this kind of pro-gramming to our community is costly. We hope you are as excited as we are and will support this endeavor.

Opera Camp

This year we are also seeking sponsors to expand— dramatically – our annual Opera Camp in June to serve 50 children in the YWCA’s summer enrichment program. Camp will immerse them in everything it takes to produce an opera and will culminate with a production of their own.

Coming 2023 – La Traviata!

Verdi’s La Traviata will be our fully staged production for July 2023 and our board is busy planning a series of events building up to it. Auditions are currently underway, and we look for-ward to bringing audiences another innovative and inclusive performance. Sponsorships and private donations are the largest source of support for this production, please sign up to sponsor today.
